The Turkish lira is climbing ahead of Sunday’s snap elections

The Turkish lira was up more than 1% on Friday.
That’s ahead of a historic presidential election this weekend.

The lira rose Friday ahead of Turkey’s historic snap elections this weekend, which will also mark the country’s shift from a parliamentary system to a more powerful presidency. 

The lira was up 1.3% to 4.6672 versus the dollar at 2 p.m. ET. Turkey’s central bank has been trying to prop up the lira ahead of the election, raising rates earlier this month for the third time in two months to 17.75%.See the rest of the story at Business Insider
