Alright, alright, alright- Matthew McConaughey is now a prof at the University of Texas. <\/p>\n

The Academy Award-winning actor has been appointed as a prof of practise at the Moody College of Communication, starting this fall.<\/p>\n

The institution announced the star-hire in a tweet, saying it’s’ in recognition of his professional pedigree and personal investment in student success’.<\/p>\n

The Dazed and Confused icon is set to join the Department of Radio-Television-Film after serving as a visit instructor since 2015- and he’s since become a bit of a legend around the campus.<\/p>\n

He co-taught the’ Script to Screen’ film-production class with another prof, Scott Rice- helping to shape the curriculum and use his invaluable experience to give an insight into movie product behind-the-scenes.<\/p>\n

McConaughey said it’s a class he wish he had when he was studying, and calls the process of filmmaking’ timeless’.<\/p>\n

As reported by UT News<\/a>, McConaughey said: <\/p>\n

Making movies, turning words on paper into cinema, is both a science and art- no matter the time or generation.<\/p>\n

The elements of truth and genuine exhilaration for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus.<\/p>\n

McConaughey was born in Uvalde, Texas, and graduated with a cinema degree from the University of Texas in 1993. <\/p>\n

With experience in more than 50 films, including Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall street and Dallas Purchaser Club, he also has experience as individual producers- most notably on HBO’s critically-acclaimed True Detective.<\/p>\n

He won over the hearts of students and faculty alike in 2016, after driving students home in a golf cart as one of the purposes of the university’s SURE Walk Drive initiative.<\/p>\n
