MAD Architects<\/a> have exposed their design for a multi-functional complex located in the historic middle of Vilnius<\/a>, the capital city of Lithuania<\/a>. The programme was designed as an “urban sculpture” where anyone can move between underground levels, walk-able roofs, porches and other sightseeing platforms. All public spaces are adapted for the city residents, so the complex welfares not only its customers but also individual citizens of Vilnius. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The design includes a stepped build form which forms a gallery-type arrangement with a courtyard and walk-able roofs. After examining visual communications, the interrelations between the surrounding vertical parts and paw traffic schemes, MAD<\/a> discovered a number of challenges on site. The urban environment also needed betterment. The crossroads formed by V.Kudrikos and Gedeminas streets did not have any elements to complete the architecture of the prominent intersection.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

MAD<\/a> arranged an urban plaza at the crossroads with an amphitheater and free access to commercial-grade and amusement fields. Via the shopping mall everyone is able to get to the restaurant zone( located under the hotel) and to the recreation area inside the current construction courtyard. The distribution of the complex parts is based upon current pedestrians’ connects. The agency unit is located closer to the busy superhighway, while the inn zone is located in the depth of the ground story. Both blockings are linked by an archway across Dainavos street.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
