In the wake of U.S. House candidate Dan Crenshaw( R-Texas) being mocked by Saturday Night Live for a conflict hurt<\/a>, NBC News reporter Kasie Hunt discussed her interview with Crenshaw about ex-servicemen moving for office and expressed her appreciation for his service.<\/p>\n

I interviewed @DanCrenshawTX<\/a> for a piece on veterinarians running. I enjoyed our discussion — and as an American I am unbelievably grateful for his service and his sacrifice. Our country is better off with more people like him in Congress, party aside.<\/p>\n

She then expended quite a few tweets responding to indignant leftists accusing her of politically endorsing Crenshaw.<\/p>\n

I’m not endorsing potential candidates. I AM saying thanks for provide and saying I see more ex-servicemen in Congress is good for our home countries. If you disagree, we can agree to disagree.<\/p>\n

They apparently missed the” party aside” parcel of her tweet.<\/p>\n

The piece highlighting Crenshaw also included Democrat Amy McGrath. I had another piece merely this morning on Sunday TODAY about wives veterinarians extending — in both parties.<\/p>\n

I is felt that. I’m not exhorting voters to pick him over his opponent. I am saying he should not be mocked for his services and that I personally be recognised that he sacrificed for all of us.<\/p>\n

I’m a big devotee of yours. I’m not endorsing presidential candidates and it’s not over the line to thank a veteran for their service when their trauma is being teased. I’ve also interviewed Democratic veteran nominees and would say the same about them. Party aside.<\/p>\n

Tammy Duckworth “ve been given” so much better for our country and I am grateful to her for it<\/p>\n

That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying we should value service from our ex-servicemen and appreciate what that suffer can bring to the table , not tease them when they come home hurt.<\/p>\n

I said absolutely nothing about his politics and I did not say anyone should vote for him over his adversary. I would say the same for any Democratic vet in a similar circumstance.<\/p>\n

I’ve acknowledged that it could be misread without the broader context. But I was specifically referring to his services and sacrifice when I said people “like him”. I’m patently not going to change your mind and I’m sorry to have let you down. That’s my thinking.<\/p>\n

I just don’t interpret defending a veteran who is taunted for their wraps as a venial sin. We are going to have to disagree on this.<\/p>\n

It isn’t. Whether a Republican or a Democrat, it is appropriate to never be considered inappropriate to thank a ex-serviceman for his or her service.<\/p>\n
