Young people are ditching the Facebook app as a source of their news, a new study has found.
\nInstead, they’re turning to messaging apps like WhatsApp — which is also owned by Facebook.
\nThe study was conducted prior to changes Facebook made to its algorithm to favour user posts, which means news consumption may have declined even more since then.<\/p>\n
The use of social media networks such as Facebook to consume news has started to fall in the United States as many young people turn toward messaging apps such as Facebook-owned WhatsApp to discuss events, the Reuters Institute found.<\/p>\n
